INSTALLATION FOR GROUP SHOW “SUPER RADIANCE”

Opening Reception Saturday, November 10, 5-7pm

Super Radiance is a group exhibition of twenty-seven artists working across a wide spectrum of media, including painting, photography, collage, sculpture, video, textiles, and performance, as well as technologies such as Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality.

The theme draws on both scientific and spiritual definitions of the title: as an electromagnetic phenomenon, “superradiance” describes the cooperative, spontaneous emission of energy particles; as a metaphysical force, “Super Radiance” characterizes the positive societal effects transmitted when a group of people meditate together.

Amplified by the power of shared momentum and collective intent, Super Radiance unites artists on diverse wavelengths into a luminous, resonant frequency.

DIRTY LOOKS ON LOCATION - HANDBAG FACTORY ROOFTOP PARTY

35130771_2233132873371426_4865604665355534336_o.jpg

Thursday, July 19, 2018 / 9pm-2am

On Location began in 2012 in the bars and community centers that fill New York City. Setting up screenings or pitting performances in everyday spaces brought new life to the works, highlighting the social nature of making art in a city. But there were other stories to tell. Starting with community, Dirty Looks On Location is a festival for our streets. Playing with venues and meeting places that defined queer life in L.A., On Location 2018 was organized by 13 local curators, artists and promoters. 31 spaces across the 31 days of July, charting a progression of culture(s) using a month’s time.

Handbag Factory has served as a key performance space for Queer and Trans noise, video, and punk artists throughout it’s 7-year history. Handbag is situated in the rapidly gentrifying South Park neighborhood of Downtown Los Angeles and serves as a cultural oasis in a sea of cookie-cutter condos. Rooftop Party at Handbag Factory will feature performances by Gaylord Fiend, Poor Impulse Width Modulation, and VisionVision with live analog visuals by Alex Pelly.

ARCHIVE OF PELLYVISION WITH STEPH RUSS

June's guest was Steph Russ, a fellow labrat with the monthly show Heart Pressure Radio.  Steph recently played dublab’s Tonalism at Bonnarroo, which Alex did visuals for. Tonalism is an all night happening inspired by La Monte Young’s Dream House and the happenings of the 50s and 60s by artists such as Terry Riley, John Cage and Yoko Ono. Visitors are encouraged to bring pillows, cushions, and sleeping bags, lay down and listen. Steph who is known for electronic dance music, slowed it way down for the occasion, including some original ambient tracks. She shared some of these new creations with us on PELLYVISION, mixed it with other ambient tracks, while Alex used her video patches from Tonalism to visualize.
